Aghassi Zakarian was born in Armenia in 1961. Attracted to art at an early age, he took his first course in the Pioneer Palace while attending high school. After obtaining his Bachelor’s degree in Art Design in 1980, he began attending the prestigious Fine Arts Academy in Yerevan, where he continued five years of studies and graduated among the top of his class. After his studies, he became first artist-designer in the SAPHIR Company in Yerevan from 1985 to 1988 in the field of watchmaking. He then created an independent workshop in his home town (Yerevan) where he made sculptures of frescoes, bas reliefs and ceramic mosaic. During this period, Aghassi Zakarian exercised his skills in decorating furniture as well as buildings (shops, restaurants, hair salons and private homes.) In 1993, he moved to France and opened a workshop where he practiced his talent until 2004. During this period, Aghassi Zakarian participated in many activities such as teaching, drawing, and painting for students of all ages, as well as continuing is work as a designer of exterior and interior buildings until he founded the JANUS Association. In 2001 his career undertook a new dimension when he began to specialize in works of art made with resin, marble dust and plaster from Demoule Silicone. Anxious to convey his art, he also formed during this period people integration techniques and decorative molding.
